Thanks to a generous donation by Puddletown Chess, female players up to age 18 may play for free in the following monthly events in 2025: the Game in 60, Tuesday Quads, Wednesday Quads, Wednesday Blitz, and Sunday Quads.
Format: 4-round Swiss in one section. The official US Chess OTB regular ratings are generally used. One half-point bye is available if requested before round one.
Time Control: G/60;inc5 (sixty minutes per player with five seconds added for each move).
Schedule: On-site registration runs from 9-9:45am. The rounds are at 10am, 12:30pm, 2:45pm, and 5pm. Players who have a game go around the full time can request extra time off before the next round.
Entry Fee: $30, $20 for Portland Chess Club members. Free entry for titled players, (NM and above); the entry fee is deducted from prizes won. Pay during on-site registration with cash, check payable to the Portland Chess Club, or PayPal at email@pdxchess.org.
Rated: US Chess dual rated (regular and quick). US Chess membership is required: US Chess membership rates/information/benefits. Rose City Chess is currently offering discounted memberships for any player under age 18 at the time of redemption here.
Prizes: $525 based on 30 paid entries (the prize fund is adjusted proportionally if there are a different number of players except $262.50 is guaranteed). 1st-$150, 2nd-$75, 1st U1850-$60; 1st U1650-$60, 1st U1450-$60, 1st U1250-$60, Biggest Upset-$60. Unrated players are eligible for all of the prizes. Prizes are combined and split if there is a tie.
Qualifiers: This tournament is a qualifier for the Oregon Scholastic Chess Federation State Championship (unless the tournament falls on or up to ten days prior to the final day of the state championship)
