Thanks to a generous donation by Puddletown Chess, female players up to age 18 may play for free in the following monthly events in 2026: the Game in 60, Tuesday Quads, Wednesday Quada, and Sunday Quads.

Format: 3-round quads, usually with one round on each of the first three Tuesdays in the month. At least some of the sections may run as a Swiss or round robin with more than three rounds and/or four players depending on circumstances (number of players, number of Tuesdays in a month, etc.). By agreement players may schedule their game at another day and/or time if it’s scheduled after the previous Tuesday night and before the following Tuesday night. The official US Chess OTB regular ratings are generally used.

Time Control: G/90;inc30 (ninety minutes per player with thirty seconds added for each move). Click here to see how to set the popular digital clocks for this time control (including some important notes on some of the clocks).

Schedule: On-site registration runs from 6-6:45pm on the first Tuesday of the month. Rounds begin each Tuesday at 7pm.

Entry Fee: $15, $10 for Portland Chess Club members. Pay during on-site registration with cash, check payable to the Portland Chess Club, or PayPal at email@pdxchess.org.

Rated: US Chess regular rated. US Chess membership is required: US Chess membership rates/information/benefits. Rose City Chess is currently offering discounted memberships for any player under age 18 at the time of redemption here.

Prizes: The winner of each quad gets a $10 credit toward any other Tuesday or Wednesday quads held in the next 3 months.

Location: Portland Chess Center, 2701 NW Vaughn St, Portland, OR 97210. The club is located in Suite 133 on the lower floor.
