Format: One section, 5-round Swiss with one round each Tuesday at 7pm on September 29 and October 6, 13, 20, and 27. By agreement players may schedule their game at another day and/or time if it's scheduled by the Sunday before the next round. The official US Chess OTB regular ratings are generally used. One half point bye is available if requested before round one

Time Control: G/90;inc30 (ninety minutes per player with thirty seconds added for each move). Click here to see how to set the popular digital clocks for this time control (including some important notes on some of the clocks). Bring an increment capable digital clock. Some digital clocks are provided at this tournament but please do not always rely on the club to provide a digital clock (boards, pieces, notation sheets, and pens/pencils are provided).

Registration: On-site registration runs from 6:45-7pm on Tuesday, September 30.

Entry Fee and Memberships: $15 and US Chess and Portland Chess Club memberships through October are required. Rated: US Chess regular rated

Prizes: 1st-$50 and name inscribed on the club champions plaque, 1st U1800/unrated-$25. The cash prizes are combined and split if there is a tie and all those who tie for first are co-champions and get their name inscribed on champions plaque.

Qualifiers: This tournament is a qualifier for the Oregon Scholastic Chess Federation State Championship

Location: Portland Chess Center, 2701 NW Vaughn St, Portland, OR 97210. The club is located in Suite 133 on the lower floor.

Notes: 1) This tournament uses the rules from the 7th edition of the US Chess rulebook. The pairings may be adjusted to accommodate player availability. 2) While this tournament is open to scholastic players, it's only recommended for mature scholastic players who are capable of playing in a serious tournament and against adults. 3) State membership is not required. 4) There are no Tuesday Quads in October due to the Portland Chess Club Championship.
